The Butte Fencing Club began in 2007 as a few friends taking informal fencing lessons and practicing together wherever they could find space: in a basement, on a driveway, in a church hallway.
From this small beginning, we have grown to a club with an active membership approaching thirty fencers along with several parents and younger siblings who enjoy socializing on the sidelines during practices. We have a permanent indoor practice location thanks to the generosity of the Butte Evangelical Free Church. Our Coach and Assistant Instructors offer lessons which follow a formal course of study from rank beginner through advanced levels. In addition to learning fencing, BFC members are trained in the fundamentals of refereeing.
BFC is an ethnically, economically, and socially diverse group of men, women, girls, and boys ranging in age from 10 years old to 60-something. Though we come from many walks of life, we are united by our passion for the exciting sport of fencing!
